Rifle River Paddle Power Day
- Rifle River Recreation Area
will host a Paddle Power Day on
June 5, 2010. This is a free
family fun event which will take
place from 10 am to 2 pm in the
park's day use area on the
scenic shore of Grousehaven
Lake. Come and try out a canoe
or kayak and enjoy the peace and
serenity of "paddle power"
propulsion. Experts will be on
hand to offer tips and
techniques. Door prizes will be
drawn and awarded to selected
participants. Door prizes
include two free
camping/canoeing getaways. Each
getaway will consist of two
nights of free camping (either
in a campground or in a rustic
cabin) and a 3 hr. canoe trip
down the scenic Rifle River and
may be redeemed from June
15-Aug. 30. All motor vehicles
will be required to have a state
park motor vehicle permit for
entry. |

host "Go Fly a Kite."
This event will be held at 1 pm.
The event will take place at the
ranch campground baseball field.
Come and join us for a day of
kite flying. This is a great
family activity. The first 50
children (12 and under) will
receive a free kite. Kite
expert, Kite-Man Jack will be
giving kite flying
demonstrations. |

Rifle River "Survivor" -
Come and join in the fun for a
day of friendly competition.
This event will test your
abilities and knowledge. You
don't need to bring a team, just
come as an individual. Teams
will be selected upon arrival
according to age classes: 6 yrs
- 10 yrs and 11 yrs - 16 yrs.
Dress in old cloths and expect
to get dirty. There will be a
lunch intermission around 1 pm
and competitors will be able to
roast their own hot dog lunch.
Spectators are welcome and can
also enjoy a fire roasted hot
dog. THIS EVENT IS FREE -
A park motor vehicle permit is
needed for entry. |
